Discuss anything about 2v2 here. Share your build orders, experiences, advice, or just any thoughts you have on 2v2.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is some things I learned from playing 2v2:
1.Doesn't matter how good you are at 1v1, 2v2 is all about teamwork.
2.Doesn't matter how good your partner is, if you suck, then its 2v1 and that wont work.
3.By teamwork I mean you and your partner need to do builds that complement each other. If you do a super fast Marine Rush but your Zerg partner is busy making Drones, your rush will fail. Any good 2v2 player can stop a rush done by one person. But a double rush is different. Hes going to die if his partner doesn't come to help him.
4.Best teams have a Zerg in them. PZ TZ and ZZ. Zerg lets your team be very aggressive early, gives you free detection, better scouting, and then lets you control the air in midgame. If the other team doesn't have a Zerg of their own then they have to focus on anti air while the Zerg's partner can just focus on ground.
5.TP TT PP teams are hard to play but can be pulled off if both players have a lot of experience playing together and have good teamwork.
6.Expoing is dangerous. If you can pull off a fast expo and not die (or ur partner not dies), then you are really ahead. But that's very risky unless its like ZZ vs PT team or something like that.
7."Safe Builds" that you would use in 1v1 don't work so well. You know the builds that you do that give you a good economy, a decent size army to defend with, and get you to a good mid game? They suck in 2v2.
8.Its all about doing aggressive risky builds (old school builds). Fast rushes, fast tech, 1 base builds. Only get Defence or Detection in order to survive the other teams rush (if its faster than yours) and then counter with your rush. Which is why scouting is very important.
9.So to sum up, you are basically playing against the Zerg on the other team. Zergs play ZvZ, Terrans TvZ, Protoss PvZ. But you can't do Fast Expo builds because its 2v2 and you have to take into account the Zergs teammate. So do 1 base aggressive builds.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll add some Terran Builds (PS- Most of these I thought of myself since there's very few guides or builds for 2v2. So there's a good chance they might be wrong):

Double 8 Rax Marine Rush-

8Rax 9Depot Bunk Rush-

2 Barrack Fast Acad-

3 Barracks MM-
9 Depot
11 Barracks
13 Barracks
14 Depot
21 Barracks (cut SCVs here)
Get Refinery and Academy as soon as you can. Cut Marines if you think its safe then resume.
22-24 Depot

Pump Marines from all 3 Barracks. When Academy is done research StimPack and get 4-6 Medics. Move out when you have enough Medics, at the same time as your Ally. Have an SCV constantly making Depots and resume SCVs when you have the extra cash and supply. Get Marine Range after Stim is done. Ebay when you have the cash.

Notes:
1. Your partner should go 3 Gate Zealots or fast 2nd Hatch followed by Mass Speedlings, or else this build will fail. This is why you have lot of Medics, so you can heal your allies units.
2. Move out and attack together, Zealots and Zerglings in the front going up the ramp. Marines+Medics behind them. If you do it right you should be able to trap your allies units in between you and the enemy units, this will keep them from running around like idiots cuz they can't get up the ramp until the ones in front die.
Try to keep your Marines from running around too.
3. Focus your fire on enemy units blocking the ramp. Ignore Cannons or Sunkens, your allies Zealots and Zerglings can take care of those as long as they can get up there. If doing this to Terran kill the depots in the way and target fire SCVs blocking/repairing so your ally can get to the Bunker.
4. You and your ally should do your best to hide your builds. So they don't know anything until you move out, and by that time you can kill them before they get enough sunkens/cannons. Terran opponents can make a bunker but if you did well at hiding your builds they will only have 1-2 Marines to put inside once you get there.
5.Ideas for hiding your build:
Leave a worker on the ramp blocking any probes/scvs trying to scout you until you can get a zealot or a wall built.
Send a Marine to kill any overlords/worker scouts in your allies base
Proxy your buildings
6.If you can kill or seriously cripple one of them you are ahead. If not then you are waaay behind. If it works go contain the other person so you can both expo.
7.I would try mass MM midgame. Add Vessels later or dropships/transports if theres a Terran. Your P ally can switch to Goons or Mass SpeedZeal/Archons. Zerg allies can go the usual Muta, or Expo and go Mass Hydra.

2 Fac Vults-

3 Fac Gols-

2 Port Wraiths-

If you suck at 2v2 you're probably just winging it and don't know what you're doing it. Check this out and stop being Noobs:

2v2 Replays
2v2 Videos

Practice what you learn there, and once you have a good idea of what works and what doesn't you can start experimenting with strategies of your own.

PS to Zerg Players: Don't go Hydra off one base. There's a reason everyone goes Mutas instead. Hydas suck. 2v2 is like playing ZvZ.
