VENTRILLO server?

Alright, basically im not sure what everyone else thinks of this idea so im going to ask if you think it is worth while. I think it would be great to have a team vent server. I will set it up and pay for it. all you need is a mic. Bestbuy has head sets for like 15 dollars. and USB headsets as well, also some wirless sets as well. Like i said if everyone is in a agreement to use this possible vent server i will take care of everything.

the pro's of this is: 2v2's will be so much easier, imagine saying everything you would like to type? talking to your partner like there in the same room. or just playing a 1v1 and bullshitting with your friends lol. OR........in cw's have only one person on vent that is in the game, and shotcast for everyone else. Our player in the CW cant be on the vent while that is happening but everyone else can. we wont even have to type on our main CtS room. This will open up more opurtunitys for my camtasia recordings as well. and live streams?

And i honestly cant think of a single con to this idea. It will put our team on the map for real.

post your opinions plz before i go out and spend money on this.

This would be very nice to have in 2v2. I would use it if everyone else uses it too. If a mic is less than $15 bucks then ya I'll go get one. Do I need to install additional software? My computer is not so great and I;m on 56k :s

oh k how about this. Ill buy it. set it up and test it out. you guys go get a mic, any kind will do. i dont care how cheap it is. as long as you can talk. No additional software needed. All you need is a mic and the wilingness to broaden this teams horizons. If it doesnt get used or no one likes it ( which i highly doubt will happen) i will delete it. Ill be out 9 -16 dollars no big deal. Im jsut tyring to help out thats all guys, so give it a try.

UPDATE. It appears you do have to actually downlaod ventrillo lol im an idiot. go to
vent34.light-speed.com from there the download for the software ventrillo software, not the teamspeak. it is FREE! and fast. and my comp is slow and it Dled quick. Now after you download it go to the short cut and begin walking through it. there is a video on youtube here is the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAeqfH4ZNSs. if that doesnt work just type in the google bar, "how to vent" and the video pops up. i havnt been able to test this thing out yet since no one is on to log on and attempt to speak with me. It is a new thing and i havnt used it before, but we will get it rolling smoothly. All i know is i bought it and we have it so lets use it! I do leave on spike tomorrow so i wont be here if you have questions, ill leave all the admin information with siege.

Can you change the password and then PM me the new one privately?
Also, I don't know anything about ventrilos. Besides getting a MIC what am I suppose to do to be able to use it?

Keep the password a secret guys. Unless you want to end up like this o0:

Not that hard.

First open up Ventrilo and click on the arrow next to "Server".



After, type in all the info that Drums specifies in the above post.



After, click Ok at the bottom of the window, then click on Connect on the right hand side.



To change the button in which to activate the Microphone, click on Setup on the right hand side of the Ventrilo window(couples tabs under Connect), and place your mouse over the white space next to Hotkey, and push or click any button you wish to use to activate your microphone. I personally like to use the scroll up/down thing on the mouse. Just click down on the scroll up/down on the mouse to activate the mic, since that button isn't used in-game for SC.

NOTE: For Siege: Everyone needs to know the pass to log-on. If you change the password to the Vent server, no one will know the password to log-on. .

Allright, I have a MIC/Headset now. Cost me 16 dollars at Target. So I just plug it in and the MIC works? No drivers or anything?

Pretty much unless the mic came with a CD, then you put it in the computer and install the drivers. But they usually don't.

It works for me I talked to Vargas. Sexy Latin Accent.

Yea that will be badass when you get a better connection there siege. I played 2v2 with dravic all last night and ill have to say it was BADASS! it takes this game to a new level. Plus on this next CW Id like to see if i could obs a few games and commentate it seeing how im going to launch my youtube vidoes soon and i want a little practice. so anyone who will let me obs that would be nice. And anyone who wants to listen to the game, jsut get on vent.
